The timeline on the $1.5 million plan to replace Palisades Charter High School’s track and field has grown murky, despite months of the school’s best efforts.
In April, the Palisadian-Post reported that the project—which would replace Stadium by the Sea’s heavily worn surfaces with aesthetic and safety upgrades—was due by the end of summer, with construction starting on the Monday after graduation.
In the time since, PaliHi has parted ways with former Director of Operations Dave Riccardi, who had played an integral role in the project.
School officials have also indicated that gaining permission from LAUSD for the construction has been a belabored process.
At PaliHi’s May 16 Board of Trustees meeting, Director of Development Michael Rawson confirmed that the school is still “actively pursuing” the district’s approval.
Whether construction can still begin in June remains to be seen.
The Palisades Americanism Parade Association has been preparing to host their annual Fourth of July concert and fireworks display at PaliHi’s baseball field in order to accommodate the project.
If Stadium by the Sea isn’t yet under construction at that time, it may have been an unnecessary audible.
