Laurie Milligan went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of May 12, 2017. She passed away peacefully in her sleep after suffering for many years from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 80 years old.
Although she grew up in Los Angeles, she was a resident of Pacific Palisades for 40 years before she moved to Walnut Creek, California to be near her son and his family in 2007.
Laurie spent the majority of her career as an elementary school teacher working for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She also served as a private reading tutor and taught for a short time at the Village School of Pacific Palisades. After she retired from teaching, she worked as a sales associate at Forgette’s Gifts.
She enjoyed many passions, but her greatest dedication was to her faith in God. She was a member of Calvary Church and attended services regularly. She spent many happy hours tending her garden and playing the piano.
Laurie is survived by her children, Kelly and Shauna; her brothers, Michael and Tom; and her grandchildren, Grady, Colby, Sasha and Garrett.
She has been laid to rest at the Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach near the grave of her beloved mother. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
