Palisades High senior captain and setter Marcus Partain has been chosen Player of the Year in the City Section after leading the Dolphins to their third consecutive crown. Partain, who is committed to UCLA and also excels in beach volleyball, missed last season due to injury, but came on strong in the playoffs this spring. It marks the third season in a row in which a Palisades player has won the award. Two years ago, libero Jeff Stuart was named Co-Player of the Year along with El Camino Real setter John McNally and last year the honor went to Dolphins outside hitter Akhil Tangutur.
Tangutur made the first team this year along with teammates Justin Howard (a middle blocker) and Miles Partain (opposite).
Junior libero Nick Conte was a second-team selection and Carlos Gray was chosen Coach of the Year for the third straight time.
