Local children and teens are invited to participate in the annual summer creative writing contest sponsored by the Pacific Palisades Library Association, which is underway.
This year’s contest theme, “Food . . .Writing Is Delicious, too!” compliments the library’s summer reading club theme “Reading Is So Delicious.” Entries must include at least one reference to food and could include characters eating, a cooking experience or a family holiday gathering.
All entries must be submitted to a librarian and logged in at the Palisades Branch Library information desk before September 4.
Entries may take any literary form, and age categories include: Scribblers (entering grades 1 and 2), Jotters (grades 3 and 4), Scrawlers (grades 5 and 6), Scribes (grades 7 and 8) and Authors (high school).
Awards will be given out in the fall at the library. Prizes (Diesel Book store gift certificates) include $100 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third—in each category.
Visit: friendsofpalilibrary.org and at the library. Call (310) 459-2754.
