Palisadian sisters Chloe and Sophie Bendetti won the Girls 14 doubles at the 41st annual Junior Knowlwood Tournament in Santa Barbara, winning three rounds en route to victory. The Bendettis defeated Lola Gorbacheva and Mackenza Kinsella, 6-0, 6-2, in the finals, after winning the first two rounds in straight sets. Also capturing a doubles title were Palisadians Lucas Bellamy and Ben Goldberg in the Boys 14, as they won all three rounds en route to the trophy. Bellamy and Goldberg received a first-round bye before needing three sets to dispose of Allen Sokolov and Matthew Tsolakyan, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, they defeated Max Nudell and Andrew Whitehouse, 7-5, 6-1, before ousting Kevin Ha and Miles Hale, 6-1, 6-2. o o o The Pacific Palisades Volleyball Club captured the silver medal at the USA Volleyball’s Junior National Championships, held July 1-8 in Dallas, Texas. Led by a core of Palisadians ‘ Scott Stoeckinger and Tommy Lutz (Corpus Christi) and Alex Jacobs and Adam Lee and Alex Jacobs (Calvary Christian), who will all attend Loyola High in the fall ‘ the 14’s Quicksilver went 8-3 overall as the No. 6 overall seed. Also leading the team were Will Bantle (Corpus Christi, will be an 8th grader), Colin Enzer (St. Matthew’s, will attend Loyola), Jason Wittbrodt and Danny Miller (Paul Revere, will attend Palisades High) and Andrew Bagnard (will be a 7th grader at St. Matthew’s). Team members Jack Burke and Louis Murray attend St. Paul’s in Westwood and will be 8th graders, while Griffin Levitan will be an 8th grader at Crossroads Middle.
