Palisades Cares, partnering with YMCA, is hosting its annual Palisades Cares Backpack and School Supplies Drive. The drive benefits School on Wheels, a non-profit organization that tutors homeless kids in Los Angeles. It will be open through August 18.
Local drop off locations include Benton’s, CVS, Regal Cleaners, and the Palisades-Malibu YMCA. The drive accepts donations of school supplies such as notebooks, notebook paper, pencils, erasers, pens and backpacks.
“Please consider shopping local,” says Marie Steckmest of Palisades Cares. She suggests that families and kids shopping for school supplies purchase extra supplies for students whose families are unable to do so.
The drive was kicked off early by the Pacific Palisades Rotary Club, which has donated ten backpacks filled with an assortment of school supplies.
