“Wow, that is so cool. What the heck is it?” That’s the question people usually ask George Browning, a Rustic Canyon resident, when he cruises through the Palisades on his head-turning V-8 Supertrike.
Custom-built for Browning in 1999 in New Mexico and fully restored in 2013 by a team at Westside Garage in Santa Monica, the trike sports a small-block Chevy 355 engine that packs approximately 400 hp and a turbo 350 transmission with torque converter.
The trike, which would cost approximately $40,000 to $60,000 to build today, can reach a top speed of about 190 mph. Of course, Browning stays well under that speed when he’s running around town in the Palisades.
