The Palisadian-Post has welcomed its newest reporter, Magnolia Lafleur, who brings with her experience at Long Beach-based newspapers as well as a magazine with an international reach.
A writer and fine artist, Lafleur is a former track and field professional athlete who ran on the Trinidad & Tobago National Team under distinguished coach Bobby Kersee.
Along with having competed at two Olympic trial finals, Lafleur has made the gallery rounds in Los Angeles as a narrative fine artist, and in the evenings, she teaches mindful paint and sip classes via her company, Art on the Run.
Magnolia earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from California State University, Long Beach, and has worked as a journalist for Long Beach Press-Telegram, Long Beach Gazette, NOVICA National Geographic and Sublime Magazine, an international sustainable lifestyle magazine based out of London, England.
She recently completed her latest truth versus illusions art series, “In Search of Sides.” This series explores the idea of studying information, people and the world from all angles, and puts to question how our perspectives, views and opinions are formed based upon who presents and how things are presented.
Lafleur shared she is “eager to make a difference and exercise her curiosity by exploring, reporting and getting to know the tight-knit community of the Palisades.”
