Susan Angelo, an accomplished Shakespearean actress who often performs at Theatricum Botanicum and other Los Angeles venues, is taking her turn as director with ‘A Winter’s Tale’ at Kingsmen Park, California Lutheran University, in Thousand Oaks. Angelo was first cast professionally at 19 as Juliet at the Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga. She has been portraying Shakespeare’s women, and other classical roles, ever since. Her 20-year relationship with the Theatricum is as close as it can be without being part of the extended Geer family (actor Will Geer was the founder), many of whom are members of the Theatricum’s repertory company and school. Angelo also is affiliated with A Noise Within, where she appeared as Elizabeth in ‘Richard III’ last December. A year and a half ago, Angelo returned home to Pacific Palisades after a six-year sabbatical in Washington, D.C., and New York, where she completed an MFA at George Washington University with a concentration on Shakespeare and classical texts. ‘Winter’s Tale’ will be performed July 30, 31 and August 1, 6, 7 at 8 p.m. (pre-show at 6:45). Admission is $15; under 18 free. Grounds open at 5:30 for pre-show entertainment. Snacks, beer and wine are available for purchase. Kingsmen Park is located at 60 W. Olsen Rd. in Thousand Oaks. For information and reserved seating, call 805-493-3014 or go online to www.kingsmenshakespeare.org.
