Only four teams make the City Section’s Open Division tennis playoffs and Palisades High  netted the top seed for this year’s draw, beginning with a semifinal match against fourth-seeded Cleveland at 12:30 p.m. today at the Palisades Tennis Center.

Cleveland, which lost to Palisades in the Open Divison final last season, finished third in the West Valley League behind Granada Hills and El Camino Real, which are meeting in this afernoon’s other semifinal. Today’s winners will meet for the championship next Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Balboa Sports Center in Encino.

The Western League champion Dolphins are seeking their sixth straight City crown, having captured four Division I titles before winning the inaugural Open Division title last fall.

Palisades and Granada Hills have combined to win the City’s last 16 upper division titles and 20 of the last 22.

Pacing Palisades are senior twins  Ireland and Sophia Amato, freshman Iris Berman and sophomores Noe Winter and Halsey Hulse, teammates at Marquez  Elementary and Paul Revere Middle School. Granada Hills, seeded second, is led by the reigning City singles champion Rena Lin.
