Normally, the Palisades High JV football team sets the table for the varsity game to follow. However, last Thursday afternoon at Hamilton it had the spotlight all to itself and the Dolphins played like the champions they are, ending their season with a dominating performance that impressed even head coach Ray Marsden.
“The cupboard was bare when the season started… we had to do so much shuffling around, but our defense kept us in games at the beginning,” Marsden said after Palisades’ 40-0 shutout—the Dolphins’ 21st win in their last 22 games. Our sophomores accepted the challenge and after losing our first game I never thought we’d run the table from there, but we steamrolled everybody.”
Ricardo Abrego ran for a five-yard touchdown on Palisades’ second offensive play. After Jack Babala recovered a fumble, Jaxon Bell made a fingertip catch and Abrego scored again from five yards out to make it 14-0. Bell’s 10-yard touchdown catch from Sloane Senofsky and Daniel Anoh’s seven-yard run made it 26-0 by halftime.
Xavier Smith’s one-yard run and quarterback Dylan Hassid’s one-yard sneak in the third quarter closed out the scoring.
