After winning the City Section Division I championship and falling one victory short of a trip to the state finals last fall, the Palisades High girls basketball team will try for the Open Division title this winter in its second season under Coach Adam Levine.
All but three players are back, including City Division I Player of the Year Jane Nwaba and All-City guards Alexis Pettis and Sammie Arnold. Other returners are Rose Morris, Gabby Ligon, Demoni Lagway, Sofia Canter, Sydney Meskin and Janelly Portillo. Rounding out the varsity will be Ivy Scott, Athena Scribner, Sydney Diaz and freshman twins Elise and Taylor Arnold.
Palisades opens the season Saturday night against Roosevelt at the Keppel Tournament.
Palisades’ boys team, coached by Donzell Hayes, tips off the season tonight at Birmingham.
The varsity roster consists of Dylan Griffin, Sheldon Zanders, Anthony Spencer, Caden Arnold, Charlie Moore, Roman Hartwell, Bowdoin Brazell, Ryder Gianotti, Davis Ambuehl, Kyle Lee, Bo Nicholas Johansson, Owen Larbalestier, Marcello Mazzini, Keyshawn Parks, Ethan Hamid, Nick Nichols and Graham Alphson, an All-City selection last season.
