To say the Palisades High boys water polo team’s playoff win on Monday was a team effort is no exaggeration.
Fourteen different Dolphins scored, both goalies made multiple saves and every player on the roster had at least one goal, assist or steal in a 24-1 rout of Robert F. Kennedy Community at Maggie Gilbert Aquatic Center.
Leading the scoring spree was junior Chris Ramos, who had four goals. Luis Urias and Willem Shak each had three and Najee Railey, Eli Susman and Elan Mendes each added two for the top-seeded Dolphins (24-4), who host league rival Venice in the quarterfinal round at 3 p.m. today. The winner advances to the semifinals next Tuesday and the City championship game is next Thursday at 6 p.m. at Valley College.
Palisades built a 17-0 lead before the 16th-seeded Bobcats scored to avert the shutout late in the third quarter.
Max Speiser, Zach Wunder, Kian Mirshokri, Khuslen Otgonbayar, Theo Trask, Cashin Woo, Nathan Mejia and Connor Guy all scored one goal and Oliver Grant had a game-high six steals.
