The heat was on Monday afternoon at dusty Pierce College and so was Palisades High’s boys cross country team, which swept the frosh/soph and varsity divisions versus Western League rivals Westchester and Fairfax.
Palisades crowded the leaderboard in the three-mile varsity race as the Dolphins took the first five positions.
Junior Pablo Sandoval won in a time of 19:13, senior Bo Brooks was second in 19:40, junior Roger Kozlyuk was third in 20:24, junior Jonathan Smiley was fourth in 20:30 and senior Saharath Haubrich was fifth in 21:02.
Junior Molly Tenenbaum, who plays on Pali High’s softball team in the spring, was first in the varsity girls race, clocking 26:40. Natasha Mueller was fifth in 33:26 and fellow junior Ayala Tarashandegan finished seventh in 33:58. Palisades also won the frosh/soph girls race.
Palisades travels to Cerritos Regional Park for the Bell Gardens Invitational this Saturday morning and returns to Pierce for another league meet Monday. The Dolphins were second in the Division I girls race and fourth in the boys race at City Finals last fall.
