Maxwell Kennedy—son of Robert F. Kennedy—and his wife Vicki Strauss recently sold their Pacific Palisades home after 18 years of residency, according to Dirt.
The 4,100-square-foot home previously belonged to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, and boasts five bedrooms and six bathrooms, complete with a pool and private tennis court.
The “magical” one-and-three-quarter-acre property sits between Will Rogers State Historic Park and Rustic Canyon Creek, according to the listing.
“The meandering one-half-mile lane … has long been a little-known community, home to globally known politicians, actors and industry leaders,” the listing read. “Zoned for horses, it’s common to see one trotting down the lane and up the trail to the park and the miles of equestrian and hiking trails beyond. An abundance of towering sycamores, eucalyptus and oak trees conveys a park-like quality and ensures … ultimate privacy.”
Built in 1981, standout features of the home include a double-height foyer, alongside a traditional staircase and seating nook, which expands into a fireside living room with wood-paneled ceiling, hardwood floors, wide windows and built-in shelves.
“Inside, the 1981 build [touches] on the Kennedy family’s roots with finishes befitting an East Coast Colonial,” according to Realtor.com. “Nautical prints and detailed moldings run throughout, as well as detailed wood built-ins and bookshelves.”
Additional highlights include a formal dining room, a terracotta-tiled kitchen complete with high-end stainless steel appliances, a master suite with a fireplace and balcony, a bath with dual vanities, a sauna, and soaking tub.
The backyard has a grotto-style pool, sauna and a bridge that leads to a tennis court at the rear-end of the property. The front-end has a three-car garage.
Kennedy previously listed the property as a $20,000- to $35,000-per-month rental when the family would travel between California and Massachusetts.
The home was originally listed for sale for $11 million in September 2021 and sold to Nancy Chang, wife of Carlyle Asia Chief XD Yang, in June for a discounted $8 million, according to Deadline.
A preliminary design from world-renowned architects Woods + Dangaran was available, according to the listing.
Santiago Arana and Billy Rose of The Agency held the listing, while Fran Flanagan and Liz Jones represented the buyer.
