The Palisadian-Post has assembled an assortment of wedding, anniversary and engagement photos featuring Palisadians or captured in the Palisades. Though wedding season is largely on pause, let these photos remind us of cherished events we have attended and the love that is yet to come.
Chanel and Derek Martin
Palisades residents for more than seven years, Chanel and Derek Martin were married at the Bel-Air Bay Club in October 2017.
Diane Conti and Harry Kuemmerle, III
Diane Conti has lived in The Highlands since 1974 and had an office up there for 20 years. On October 22, 2019, her business partner and sweetheart of 38 years finally tied the knot with an elopement in Pebble Beach—which is where they met in 1981. The two got married overlooking the 18th green. Conti shared that she hopes her marriage is an inspiration to older couples, that love and marriage are not just for the young.
Chelsea Blackwell and Barrett Meister
On December 9, 2017, Chelsea Blackwell and Barrett Meister, who grew up in the Palisades, went to a friend’s wedding where Chelsea caught the bouquet. An hour later, the last song of the night came on. While listening to “Cruisin’” by Smokey Robinson, they said I love you.
One year later, Barrett took Chelsea on a romantic beach walk at the Bel-Air Bay Club to celebrate their love. He told her that he knew he had been in love with her since their third date, which was on the very same walk. The next thing Chelsea knew, Barrett was down on one knee asking her to marry him. She jumped into his arms saying yes.
Their families were off in the distance watching the whole proposal. As the newly engaged couple approached their families, the song “Cruisin’” played.
The two took engagement photos in the Palisades Bluffs and are planning on tying the knot at St. Matthew’s in 2021—the same place Barrett’s parents got married.
Sarah Knauer and Logan Cahoon
Sarah Knauer and her fiancé Logan Cahoon live in El Medio Bluffs. The couple, who met at Equinox in Santa Monica, got engaged in 2019.
“I attended Logan’s yoga class regularly for a couple of years before he asked me out,” Knauer shared.
Their wedding plan is to tie the knot at the Santa Barbara court house, followed by lunch at San Ysidro Ranch, which is where Knauer’s parents got married.
Photographer: Joe Walker
Joe Walker, who grew up on Lower Bienveneda, captured engagement photos of his good friends Max Meier and Sarah Dearing at Will Rogers State Beach and Bel-Air Bay Club. He shared that he typically has a lot of shoots around town.
