Sound Off
The loud booming music and noise from that outrageous event at the southwest corner of Temescal Gateway Park on a recent Friday was egregious enough, but you added insult to injury with your front-page story toadying up to the promoters (adidas) and absolving Temescal Gateway Park of any blame for allowing the event.
Your news judgment is certainly called into question with that story. I hope Joe Edmiston spends well the money the MRCA received for allowing such an affront to local residents.
Your reporter dismissed complaints of area residents with a smugness not seen before in this newspaper. His blatant editorializing that he hopes the event will spur the Palisades to become a “hotspot” is laughable. This place is already the capital of entitlement, complete with red zone parking and cellphone rapture of clueless pedestrians and drivers.
Even the play at Theatre Palisades that night was affected as the low bass thumping sound permeated Pierson Playhouse during the performance.
Anyone who wants to quibble with me by saying it was for a good cause needn’t bother. I know it was some kind of a “run for the ocean” but the noise probably killed a lot of dolphins in the process.
I wish (Ranger Joe) Edmiston lived in an area where he would have had to suffer the full impact of the obnoxious noise thanks to his rental policies. We can’t boycott Temescal Gateway Park, but we can boycott adidas. And that rap singer your reporter is so enamored of.
