Just when it appeared Palisades High’s girls soccer team was headed to overtime for the third straight game, La Mirada’s Valerie Duran scored with four minutes left and the Matadores held on to win 1-0 last Thursday at Stadium by the Sea—ending the Dolphins’ season in the CIF SoCal Regional Division II semifinals.
“This was an amazing season I’ll never forget,” Pali High senior Sadie Holt said. “We actually looked forward to practice. We’re all so close and we bonded. One day after a game we all went down to the beach to watch the sunset.”
Palisades finished 17-3, won the Western League championship and lost in a shootout to Granada Hills in the City Division I final.
