As performances of Theatre Palisades Youth/Teen’s “High School Musical Jr.” continue through March 5 at Pierson Playhouse, organizers shared updates about the show.
The Saturday evening, March 4, performance at 7 p.m. will be dedicated to Molly Steinsapir, a former TPY participant who died in February 2021 at the age of 12—“and for whom performing with TPY was among her many joys in life.”
Molly’s mother, Kaye Steinsapir, will present a short video prior to the performance, as well as discuss what The Molly Steinsapir Foundation is working on in her memory.
“Molly’s ‘happy place’ was at Theatre Palisades,” Kaye shared with the Palisadian-Post ahead of the performance. “Performing on stage was her passion and greatest joy. Molly felt at home there because Lara Ganz nurtures and models a culture of kindness. Molly’s spirit is vibrant at Theatre Palisades and within the young actors that grace its stage. We can’t wait for this Saturday evening’s show in honor of Molly Olivia Steinsapir.”
The cast and crew of the show also received a special visit from one of the stars of the “High School Musical” movies ahead of opening night. Ashley Tisdale, who played the role of Sharpay, visited a tech week rehearsal on Thursday, February 23, to support the cast, as well as provide “kind words of wisdom.”
