Pacific Palisades author Alan Eisenstock and co-author John Tournour are hosting a book signing and discussion for their new book, “The Handoff,” at Diesel Bookstore in the Brentwood Country Mart (on 26th Street) at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 18.
Tournour, known by his radio personality “J.T. The Brick,” is a sports radio host based in Las Vegas.
Eisenstock is the author of numerous books, including “Raiders!” “Sports Talk” and The Kindergarten Wars.” George Lopez’s “I’m Not Gonna Lie: And Other Lies You Tell When You Turn 50,” co-written by Eisenstock, was released in May.
“The Handoff” (published by Center Street/Hachette Book Group) tells of Tournour’s rise to fame with program director and friend Andrew Ashwood. The two become even closer as Ashwood struggled with pancreatic cancer and Tournour stood by his side throughout chemotherapy treatment.
“I’ve been a writer most of my life,” Eisenstock writes on his web site. “I started writing in the second grade. After school the neighborhood kids would gather on the back stoop outside my house in Western Massachusetts and I would tell them stories I made up on the spot—Westerns, mysteries, crazy comedies, you name it. The kids must’ve liked the stories because they kept coming back, day after day, to hear more.”
Before writing books full-time, Eisenstock was a successful sitcom writer for 25 years, writing for such popular shows as “Mork and Mindy” and “Married With Children.”
