Alfred L. Werker, Jr., age 88, died of Alzheimer’s disease on January 6 in Oceanside, California.
Al is survived by his wife, Margaret Kirkpatrick Werker, and his children, Scott Werker, Caroline Weil, and Beth Werker, his grandchildren, and great grandson. He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred L. Werker, Sr. and his mother, Frances Allen Werker of Laguna Beach, California.
Al was born on November 6, 1931, in North Hollywood, California. He graduated from the Harvard School for Boys in Los Angeles and Occidental College with a degree in political science. He received an MBA from USC.
Al served in the Air Force and Air Force reserves. Al worked for many years in the computer services industry with companies such as RAND, SDC and McDonnell Douglas.
Al was devoted to his family and enjoyed traveling with Margie and being in the company of many friends. He was an active man who was involved in sports for the majority of his life. His family and friends will always remember him as a sweet and loving man.
A memorial is scheduled for Al at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, at Temescal Canyon Gateway Park (15601 Sunset Blvd., Pacific Palisades) with a reception to follow immediately afterward. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Al’s life. Your presence will be a gift to Margie and the family. In keeping with Al’s lifestyle, feel free to take a hike before or after the gathering.
