Palisades High has hired Carlos Gray to coach its boys and girls volleyball programs, replacing Randy Stoklos and Mariko Coverdale, respectively. Gray spent the last 12 seasons coaching the boys and girls teams at Malibu High School and also coaches the Pacific Palisades Volleyball Club team.
Gray takes over two programs in strong shape, as the girls team won its third straight City title last season after going 19-2 and the boys squad had a record of 27-8-1 before falling in the City finals to Granada Hills.
Coverdale, who coached for one season, was invited to tryout to play for Japan’s international beach volleyball team and potentially could play in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, while Stoklos resigned following his only season at PaliHi.
