Palisades Flag
Whatever happened to the Palisades Flag? For a few years the Dolphin-themed banner did wave over the Village of the free and the home of the “brave”. But no longer. Did it become tattered? Was it violating some flag-related ordinance? I remember that it was designed in a contest at one point. What gives?
(Editor’s note: The flag was originally available in 2014 when then-Honorary Mayor Jake Steinfeld hosted a contest for participants to create a flag to represent the Palisades, with a design by Sean Lim and Will Dintenfass selected, with proceeds from sales donated to charities and Palisades-Malibu YMCA. It was most recently available in 2020 when local Realtor Anthony Marguleas had 100 flags printed to be sold by Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce. The merged Malibu-Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce responded via email on July 11 that they would look into the flag.)
Parade I
I attended my 1st Palisades Parade and it was fabulous! We sat on our chairs we had put in place on the 3rd and enjoyed it all: Kids on Bikes, New Orleans music, bagpipes, fife & drums, OomPapa Band, Pali High band, horses, dogs, daredevils flying out of planes, and Pali High football players holding banners. GO AMERICA, GO 🙂
Parade II
It had been a few years since I have attended a Fourth of July parade in the Palisades and I have to say, it was so good to be back. I feel like there was something for everyone, and I loved the focused, local feel to it. We are so lucky.
Fourth of July
The Palisadian-Post asked community members what their favorite part of this year’s Fourth of July festivities were and these are some of the responses: “Diamond Jubilee Parade,” “All of it!!!” and “The fun cars!”
Black Ink
While I am sad at the huge loss it will be to no longer have Black Ink on Swarthmore, I am looking forward to continuing to support Patti through her online shop. Congrats to her for all she has accomplished through her store.
Creative Writing
I wish the Library (or some other entity) would host a creative writing contest that was open to college age writers and adults. Every year that I read about the summer creative writing contest, I think about how fun it would be to participate.
