A video production camp, designed for middle school students, is being offered June 17-28 through a collaborative effort with the Palisades-Malibu YMCA and Palisades High School’s Pali Productions.
Media sessions at PaliHi will be under the direction of teacher Sean Passan, who was recently awarded a Lori Petrick Innovation Grant. These classes will take place Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. Optional outdoor camp activities will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The cost for YMCA members is $200.
High school students will mentor youth in technical production at Pali’s media studio. They will also meet at the Y’s Simon Meadow for team building and other activities that are beneficial in filming. At the end of the two-week session, each student team will produce a live-to-tape program.
“Sean Passan is a great leader who teaches kids about teamwork, values and good character as well as emphasizing academic achievement,” said YMCA Executive Director Carol Pfannkuche. “We’re happy to help sponsor this youth video production camp.”

Pfannkuche also reminds residents that the summer camp for children ages three to those going into seventh grade runs through August 15 at Simon Meadow, located at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Temescal Canyon Road.
Additionally, the YMCA sponsors a resident camp at Big Bear, where activities include horseback riding, lake sports, banana boating, campfire and team building, a ropes course and arts and crafts.
