Jennifer Garner said “yes” to a starring role in upcoming Netflix family comedy “Yes Day,” which is set to start streaming soon.
“Always feeling like they have to say NO to their kids and co-workers, Allison and Carlos decide to give their three kids a YES DAY—where for 24 hours the kids make the rules,” according to a synopsis on Cinema Blend. “Little did they know that they’d be going on a whirlwind adventure around Los Angeles, that would bring the family closer to each other than ever before.”
Based on the eponymous, bestselling children’s book written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld, Garner stars alongside Jenna Ortega, Edgar Ramírez, Julian Lerner and Everly Carganilla.
“I love making a movie my whole family can watch,” Garner shared in a preview of what’s to come on Netflix in 2021.
It was first announced in September 2018 that Garner joined the cast of the film. In October 2019, Ortega, Ramírez and Lerner joined, followed by Megan Stott in April 2020.
Directed by Miguel Arteta, the film is produced by Garner, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Daniel Rappaport, Nicole King, Adam Simpson-Marshall and Mark Moran, with a screenplay by Justin Malen.
Garner reportedly spearheads a “Yes Day!” with her own children ever since her middle daughter was young.
“Jennifer Garner uses ‘Yes Day!’ as inspiration for an annual magical day of all things YES with her children,” according to Harper Collins, the book’s publisher. “She was a little worn out after 24 hours of pure YES in 2017, but she still praised ‘Yes Day!’ as ‘a fantastic children’s book.’”
The film, which is rated PG with a run time of one hour and 26 minutes, is slated to release March 12 on Netflix.
