The Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club’s annual author’s tea will feature singer Luanne Hunt at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at the clubhouse, 901 Haverford. The public is invited.
The club’s next speaker will be Dr. Jonathan Foyle, chief executive of the World Monuments Fund in Britain, who will discuss “Our Past, a Present to the Future,” at 6:30 p.m. on May 22. Their event requires an RSVP by May 17 to (310) 230-2792 or ppwcevents@gmail.com.
Hunt will discuss her book, “One With The Dream: An Autobiography of Luanne Hunt,” in which she details her triumphs over numerous personal and professional challenges.
“Nothing changes a bad situation quite like gratitude,” Hunt says. “Make a list of things you’re grateful for and watch your blessings grow.”
The Grammy-nominated singer is a successful Independent folk music recording artist as well as a music journalist, and shares stories in the book about interviews and backstage meetings with celebrities such as Ray Charles and Naomi Judd.
Hunt began pursuing a professional music career in the mid-1990s and found immediate success with her critically acclaimed single, “I Don’t Bother Counting.” In 1996, she shared a bill with Billy Ray Cyrus, Tammy Wynette, Toby Keith and Martina McBride at the Starfest Country Music Festival in Pomona.
Recently, Hunt recorded a new Christmas song with 1960s hit makers The Royal Guardsmen. “Rudy’s Winter Break” takes listeners on a humorous holiday journey to the Caribbean with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, who is in desperate need of a little rest and relaxation. Hunt has also recorded gospel music.
A $10 donation is requested on Tuesday, and all proceeds will be donated to the Braille Institute.
