Every year, the Honorary Mayor of Pacific Palisades gets to ride in the Fourth of July parade. For current Mayor Jake Steinfeld, it’s been one of the highlights of his life.
“I’ve ridden in parades at Disney World, and I was honored to be one of 22 Americans to run with the torch in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but there’s no better feeling than riding in the Mayor Jake-mobile on the Fourth of July in Pacific Palisades and turning that corner from Via de la Paz to Sunset Blvd. and seeing hundreds of familiar faces cheering, giving you a thumbs up and chanting your name. It literally gives you the chills,” Mayor Jake said.

This year, Mayor Jake will be out of town on the big day, and he’s decided to offer you and your family a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take his place in the parade.
“Seeing how I can’t be there, I teamed up with the Palisadian-Post to give a Palisades family a shot to do something incredible,” he said. “It’s great to watch the parade, but if you have a chance to be in the show you’ve got to take this shot. This will be a real ‘bucket list’ moment for you and your family.”
Mayor Jake is holding a raffle contest to select one lucky Palisadian family to have the ride of their life. Tickets are $20 each and 100 percent of the proceeds from the contest will be donated to three charities started by Palisadians. The three charities will be announced in an upcoming issue of the Post.
Mayor Jake kicked off the fundraising by donating $1,000 to the cause.
“Everybody I talk to always talks about wanting to help local charities,” he said. “For only $20 per raffle ticket, you can do something great for your family and great for your community at the same time. Life is about moments. This fourth of July will be one of those great moments for you and your family.”
To enter to win, purchase raffle tickets ($20 each) exclusively at the Palisadian-Post, 881 Alma Real Dr. #213 or at the Post booth at the Palisades Farmer’s Market on Sundays. Enter as many times as you like.
