Several Westside Aquatics water polo teams are headed to the USA National Junior Olympics after their performances at various qualifying tournaments in May and June.
The local club is based out of Palisades High’s Maggie Gilbert Aquatic Center. Ready to compete in Session 1 from July 21-24 at Stanford University are the club’s U12, U14 and U18 boys squads.
The U12s, coached by Adam Blakis, consist of Owen Grant, Avery Grant, Cameron Kraus, Finn Loughran, Samson Raskin, Anthony Matise, Ethan FitzGerald, Charlie Speiser, Henry Thau, Curran Pendergraft, Darragh Flanders, Oliver Lichstein, Dylan Rosenzweig, Giacomo Rivers Altieri and Sean Ellis.
The U14s, coached by Matt Flanders, consist of John Possman, Quentin Chatman, Gavin Levy, Liam Berger, Elan Mendes, Cormac Flanders, John Haggenmiller, Adrian Galvan, Lawrence Rhee, Adam Yost, Darragh Flanders, Samson Raskin, Alexander Wyss and Connor Scannell
The U18 team, coached by Connor Virjee, is comprised of Michail Melnik, Jacob Cohn, Gabriel Kaplan, Quinlan Plukas, Theodore Trask, Zachary Wunder, Sebastian Zapatero-Zubiaurre, Oliver Grant, Zachary Hausner, Maximo Speiser, Matthew Garcia, Francis Schumann, Aaron Akhavan, Ezequiel Ramirez and Luis Urias Ramirez.
Two girls teams will compete in Session 2 from July 26-29, also at Stanford.
The U14s, coached by Justin Vink, consist of Story Waxman, Bianca Cherry, Ava Jennings, Katelyn Jennings, Ashley Greger, Madison Greger, Anya Bardach, Taylor Gair, Mandela Gonzales-Palmer and Alexandra Levy.
The U16 girls, coached by Vink and Olivia Allen, consist of Juansteen Hodur, Caitlin Durkin, Nicola Smulovitz, Sydney Brouwer, Ava Jennings, Katelyn Jennings, Ashley Greger, Madison Greger, Alexa Sikola, Emma Guerrini Romano, Maxine Eschger, Leighanne Estabrook, Amaya Mendez-Molina, Anne Combredet and Story Waxman.
