
The semifinals of the City Section boys water polo playoffs produced two blowouts and when the water calmed it was the two favorites left to play for the title in a rematch of last year’s final.
Second-seeded Palisades did its part with a 21-8 rout of third-seeded Granada Hills last Thursday at Maggie Gilbert Aquatic Center and top-seeded Birmingham advanced with an 11-2 triumph over West Valley League rival Cleveland.

The teams clashed Wednesday night at Valley College (result unavailable at press time) and the Dolphins were seeking their fourth consecutive title.
In the semifinals, Kian Lotfi had nine goals, three assists and 10 steals, Mitchell Kim had six goals, three assists and four steals and Zach Senator added two goals, six assists and three steals.
Darrain Noveir had two goals and Lucas Silva and Will Schwertdfegger each added one.Goalie Ross Aronson had 10 saves for the Dolphins. Look for a story in next week’s issue.
