Nothing is getting in the way of the Palisades High boys water polo season early in the 2013 season.
Striving to defend their City Section championship, the Dolphins are 6-1 through seven games, with four of those wins coming at the Conejo Classic in Ventura two weekends ago, when Pali went 4-1 in five games. In their season opener, the Dolphins throttled Birmingham, which it beat in last year’s City finals, 15-4.
On Monday, the Dolphins pounded Banning at home, 12-0, in a game in which head coach Adam Blakis decided to give some of his regular starters a rest with a bevy of games on the horizon.
Seniors Luka Kosanin, Alex Feizbakhsh and Ryan Moosighi each scored two goals apiece, while six other players scored one goal each. Sophomore Mitchell Kim topped the team with two assists, and senior goaltender Jake Venckus had four steals and four saves.
Yesterday, the Dolphins played at Venice and today will host Santa Monica at 2:30 p.m. before participating in the Westside Classic at Brentwood School on Friday and Saturday (their first match is against Eagle Rock at PaliHi at 3 p.m. on Friday). Next week, they host San Pedro on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
