The Westside Waldorf School will hold a Traffic Signal Benefit on Sunday, October 21, to help pay for a traffic light at Los Liones Drive and Sunset Boulevard. The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. at The Outdoor Room at 17311 Sunset, across the street from the school. Refreshments, live music, an art auction and entertainment, and free valet parking will be part of the day. Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl will be an honored guest. ‘The traffic signal will make the community safer by calming traffic and allowing children to cross Sunset, and will promote local businesses,’ said Jeff Graham, Waldorf’s executive director of development. The school is committed to raising $100,000 toward the estimated $350,000 total cost of the project. As part of the agreement, Waldorf pledged $50,000 toward the design phase of the 14-month project. Councilman Rosendahl has pledged at least $50,000 of City funds and will cover the difference between the estimated and final costs of the signal. In addition, the Getty Villa Community Relations Committee is expected to underwrite a portion of the project. The K-8 Waldorf School relocated from Santa Monica to the site of the former Santa Ynez Inn and Transcendental Meditation Center in January.
