Palisades Cares encourages local residents to volunteer on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 20. For many years it has also been a day of service, so named the MLK Day of Service. The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President’s national call to service initiative.
It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.
Palisades Cares has several volunteer opportunities including collecting food from shoppers at local grocery stores that will be then donated to the Westside Food Bank to combat hunger. This activity is appropriate for children. Community service credit will be given.
To sign up, email Marie Steckmest at info@palisadescares.org. Information will also be posted on the Pali Cares blog, www.palisadescares.blogspot.com and the website, Palisadescares.org.
