Volunteers are welcome this Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to assist with weeding, planting, and clearing debris at the Native Plant Garden in Temescal Canyon Park, below Bowdoin Street. The garden was recently enlarged from 11,000 to 25,000 sq. ft. The project is being overseen by the L.A. Department of Recreation & Parks in collaboration with the Pacific Palisades Garden Club and Palisades Beautiful.
Volunteer assistance will enable the improved and expanded Native Plant Garden to get off to a good start. Arrive at any time and bring a hat and sunscreen along with hand-gardening tools. Water, snacks or a lunch are also recommended. Community service credits for environmental work are available for students.
For the past few months, a construction fence has surrounded the work zone. If the fence is still up on Saturday, please enter the enclosure through the south gate.
