In the early hours of Monday morning, April 19, break-ins were reported at two Pacific Palisades eateries: a burglary at Palisades Garden Cafe on La Cruz Drive and an attempted burglary at Cafe Vida on Antioch Street.
Palisades Garden Cafe Owner James Kwon told the Palisadian-Post the suspect(s) broke in through the front door of the establishment at approximately 2 a.m. and stole snacks before Cafe Vida was hit 10 minutes later.
Cafe Vida General Manager Juan Vicente said the suspect(s) attempted to break-in before noticing that an employee was on site and ultimately ran away. They did not take anything from the store but damaged the door.
Commanding Officer at WLA Detectives Karen Gutierrez told the Post it appears the same suspect(s) are responsible for both of the crimes. Both reports are currently being investigated by the same detective.
Vicente said although the suspect(s) got away, they were caught on camera. Vicente also reported that he believes it is the same individual(s) who attempted to break into Cafe Vida about four months ago.
Both Palisades Garden Cafe and Cafe Vida said glass replacements for their doors will be put up in the next few days and both restaurants will remain open.
