Political Divide
I am a lefty liberal Democrat, but I am ashamed to hear the Palisades Republican Club no longer feels comfortable at our community farmers market. Please come back, neighbors, and when you do, I will stand tall at your side, defending your right to speak freely and be treated civilly. Let’s show everyone how real Americans handle their political differences: with mature dialog and mutual respect.
Forbes
President Trump now ties with Palisadian and Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel at number 248 in the Forbes Magazine annual rich list: Both are worth around $3.1 billion, which is a lot more than Evan might have expected to own at 27 when he was coding in his parents’ basement in The Huntington. And a lot less than The Donald would have us believe.
Tesla
The driver of the brown Tesla S on or around Friends Street needs to come to a full and complete stop and give it a two count before making a right on to Swarthmore. You nearly ran over my elderly poodle and me last Thursday night. She has arthritis and would have no chance of avoiding the car if not for my vigilance.
Death Trap
Between texting moms and speeding teenagers, the intersection outside of Garden Cafe will be the death of me.
Frustration
Regarding the “4th Frustration”: I thought it was tongue and cheek and laughed, then thought it was real and cried for the poor person. Welcome to the entitled Palisades. My heart is breaking for this person.
Goat
Please do not print 2 Cent items that include a nasty comment directed at a specific person, such as the Anti-Goat comment printed in the Oct. 26 issue. Neighbors can make complaints known without such unpleasant language. Thank you.
Goat II
Everyone loves goats. They are not the problem; ignorant people are. Gardeners who use gas blowers are not trying to make an “honest living.” Gas-powered blowers have been illegal since 1998 and have contributed mightily to making Los Angeles the smoggiest city in our nation. One gas-blower operating for half an hour emits as much gasoline into the air as one car driving 7,700 miles! (See ZAPLA.org.) Blowers fill the air with pesticides, metals and feces. Anybody with a brain would require their gardener to use a rake and a broom, and, when necessary, a little water. Leaves never bothered anyone; it’s the blowers that are increasing rates of asthma and SIDS and other heart and pulmonary diseases. If you and a goat remained in a closed garage for a day, you’d end up with some manure. If you and a gas-powered blower did the same, you would end up dead.
