Since starting the season 0-4 Palisades High’s varsity girls basketball team is beginning to look like a team ready to compete for the City Open Division title.
The Dolphins won their first three games of the Brentwood Tournament against Birmingham, Ventura and Knight before facing off against Clovis North from Fresno, one of the highest-ranked teams in Central California.
Palisades trailed by only five points through three quarters and looked like it would pull off the upset, but Savannah Tucker sank two free throws to tie the game with four seconds left in regulation and the Broncos went on to win 66-61 in overtime.
“I’m proud of how hard we competed,” guard Sammie Arnold said. “Playing the best of the best will pay off in the long run.”
The Dolphins opened Western League play Monday at LACES and won, 63-39.
