Palisades High girls basketball coach Torino Johnson reveals the new additions to his staff.
Palisades High girls basketball coach Torino Johnson can hardly contain his excitement about next season. In addition to adding several new coaches to his staff, he likes the influx of talent to his program. That along with the improvement of several returners will make competition fierce for starting positions, which is just the way Johnson likes it. Before practice Thursday he shared his thoughts about the three coaching hires.
National attention was heaped on Johnson and his program when he confirmed that Metta World Peace, formerly Ron Artest, has joined his staff as an assistant along with former Dolphins All-City post player Dominique Scott and Jeremy St. Louis, previously an assistant at Bishop Montgomery in Torrance.
Johnson also discussed what his team needs to improve on next season. The Dolphins finished second behind Fairfax in the Western League last season, fell to Narbonne in the semifinals of the City Section Division I playoffs and lost to Lynwood in the first round of the Southern California Regional playoffs.
