It’s time to deck your halls with all things merry, cheery and bright.
An added bonus to the festive fun? A chance to win hundreds of dollars in prizes from local businesses.
For the fifth year in a row, the Palisadian-Post is hosting the Deck Your Halls home decorating contest, which awards wreaths of prizes in two categories: Best Decked Out Hall and DIY/Originality.
Those who participated last year may remember the Borgeson family, whose Huntington home was decked out in icicle lights, as well as several figures adorning the lawn. The Borgesons took home the prize for Best Decked Out Hall.
Winning the DIY/Originality wreath were the Staffords, who had a home that featured a classic holiday look. Marie Stafford told the Post that the family was “thrilled to win.”
The Borgesons and Staffords were both first time winners.
It’s not always a house that takes home a prize: In the 2018 Creep Your Crypt Halloween home decorating contest, the DIY/Originality prize went to Barbara Westlund and her Sunset Boulevard apartment.
Palisadians are encouraged to enter their own residence—or to nominate a neighbor with an impressive display.
Winners will be announced in the Jan. 3 edition of the Post. They will receive a wreath of prizes, including gift certificates to dine at Palisades Pizza, Café Vida, McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams, Juicy Ladies, Fiesta Feast, The Yogurt Shoppe, Kayndaves, K Bakery, Pinocchio, Palisades Garden Café, Sweet Rose Creamery and Coffee Bean.
Winners will also get a chance to use the services of local businesses, including Palisades Barber Shop, Michele International, Pali Pit Stop, Hi-Lites, YMCA, SKINxFIVE, Pacific Palisades Village Florist, Bay Club, Goorus Yoga and Bay Theatre by Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas, with gift cards.
