Closing night at Village Books features Sugar Ray Leonard, the town’s new honorary mayor, who will sign his autobiography (co-authored with Michael Arkush), ‘The Big Fight: My Life In and Out of the Ring,’ at 7:30 p.m. at Village Books on Swarthmore. A celebration of the store and its owner, Katie O’Laughlin, will follow at about 8:15 p.m., hosted by Arkush and his wife, Pauletta Walsh.

Theatre Palisades presents the Stephen Sondheim comic musical ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,’ 8 p.m. at Pierson Playhouse, 941 Temescal Canyon Rd., through July 10. Palisades Rocks the Fourth pre-fireworks concert, 6:30 p.m. in Palisades High’s football stadium. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Traditional fireworks display by Pyro Spectaculars, 9 p.m. Admission: $2 per person.
TUESDAY, JULY 6
The Temescal Canyon Association hikers will take the beautiful Los Liones Trail to capture the views from the East Topanga Fire Road. Meet at 6 p.m. in the Temescal Gateway parking lot. Visit: temcanyon.org.
