THURSDAY, July 19

  Story and Craft Time, ‘suggested’ for ages 4 and up, 4 p.m. at the Palisades Branch Library community room, 861 Alma Real.

  Judith Delaney, MFT, leads an Alzheimer’s and dementia support group the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Sunrise Assisted Living at 15441 Sunset Blvd. Information: (310) 573-9545.

  Evening campfires are held every Thursday evening, 7 to 8:30 p.m. (through August 23) at the stone amphitheater in Temescal Gateway Park. Participants are asked to bring ‘good cheer’ and the park staff will provide a roaring campfire, the program and marshmallows. Parking is $7.

SATURDAY, JULY 21

  Exhibition of cartoons by the late Samuel Lloyd Hutchinson begins with an opening reception, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Palisades Branch Library community room, 861 Alma Real. The public is invited.

  The Getty Villa hosts a lecture and wine tasting focused on the history of the ‘symposion’ by historian Oswyn Murray of Oxford University, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Villa in Pacific Palisades. For tickets ($60) call (310) 440-7300.

MONDAY, JULY 23

  Monthly meeting of the Pacific Palisades Civic League board, 7:30 p.m. in Tauxe Hall at the Methodist Church, 801 Via de la Paz. The public is invited. TUESDAY, JULY 24

  Teens can learn to write Chinese calligraphy with Emma Lam at 4 p.m. in the Palisades Branch Library community room, 861 Alma Real. Participants will learn more than 24 characters in an hour. Materials will be supplied.

  Temescal Canyon Association’s Tuesday Night Hike will begin at the top of Bienveneda Avenue and take the Leacock Trail loop.
