Longtime Pacific Palisades resident Michael O’Hara signs ‘Volleyball: Fastest Growing Sport in the World,’ a basic guide to ‘the sport challenging soccer,’ 7:30 p.m. at Village Books on Swarthmore Avenue. This handbook includes the history, rules and highlights of the game. Gene Radcliff, horticulture instructor and nurserywoman, will speak to Palisades Garden Club members and guests about using California native plants in home landscapes, 7:30 p.m. at the Woman’s Club, 901 Haverford. Storytime for babies and toddlers under the age of 3, featuring a lap-sit of songs, finger plays, stories and flannelboards, 10:15 a.m. in the Palisades Branch Library community room, 861 Alma Real. (One child, one lap, please). at 10:15 a.m. Don’t be late!
THURSDAY, JANUARY 6
Storytime for children ages 3 and up, 4 p.m. at the Palisades Branch Library community room, 861 Alma Real. Stories, fingerplays, rhymes: building reading skills while having fun! Joan Lachkar discusses and signs ‘How to Talk to a Borderline,’ 7:30 p.m. at Village Books on Swarthmore. The author introduces Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and outlines the challenges and difficulties it presents to clinicians. She expands current understanding of BPD by outlining eight kinds of borderline personality disorders and how each of these requires specific communication techniques and methods. Case examples are offered throughout the text and in some cases describe the kinds of partners ‘borderlines’ attract.
