  Pacific Palisades Community Council meeting, 7 p.m. at Woodland Hall in Temescal Gateway Park (this meeting only). Longtime Council member Marguerite Mautner-Perkins will receive the annual Community Service Award.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15

  Volunteers are invited to meet on the Village Green from 9 to 11 a.m. to help with the monthly gardening and maintenance that keeps the town’s pocket-park presentable.’Just bring shears and gloves.

  The Harry Potter Film Festival continues at the Palisades Branch Library at 2 p.m. with the fifth film, ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.’ With their warning about Lord Voldemort’s return scoffed at, Harry and Dumbledore are targeted by the Wizard authorities as an authoritarian bureaucrat slowly seizes power at Hogwarts. The ending to this film is especially spectacular if not poignant. Free admission.

  Calvary Church’s annual Christmas concert, 6 p.m. at the church, 701 Palisades Dr. Palisadian violinist Alexander Tseitlin will perform with members of his orchestra and singer-songwriter Travis Taylor, along with the Calvary children’s choir and adult choir.   St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church holds a Blue Christmas service for those who have lost a loved one recently, 7 p.m. at the church, 1031 Bienveneda Ave. There will be candles to light, time to reflect on our memories, singing, meaningful readings and Holy Eucharist.
