The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy’s weekly Family Fun Campfire Night, featuring nature tales, campfire songs, games and, of course, marshmallows, 7 p.m. in Temescal Gateway Park. Parking is $7, but the campfire is free. Leigh Court reads from her sexy Victorian romance, ‘The Bet,’ which is featured in ‘Secrets, Volume 27: Untamed Pleasures,’ a collection of romantic fiction, 7:30 p.m. at Village Books on Swarthmore. Fun Family Friday Nights, a summer series hosted by the Palisades-Malibu YMCA, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Simon Meadow in Temescal Gateway Park. This week’s theme is ‘Pirates and Princesses.’ Costumes are encouraged and there will be numerous theme games and activities. As always, Fiesta Feast will be selling dinners, but picnics are welcome. Admission is free; parking in the adjacent lot is $7. Will Rogers comedy classic, ‘Doubting Thomas,’ costarring Billie Burke, screens at 7:30 p.m. on the grass at Will Rogers State Historic Park. Free house tours start at 5 p.m. Popcorn and drinks are free. Parking is $8.

Carola Donnerhak, director of the Villa Aurora in Pacific Palisades, will speak at the Palisades Rotary Club breakfast meeting about her institute’s German-American history, programs and projects, 7:15 a.m. at Gladstone’s restaurant, PCH at Sunset. Eileen Davidson, who stars as Ashley Abbott on ‘The Young and the Restless,’ will read from her second novel, ‘Dial Emmy for Murder’ (a sequel to her debut novel, published by Penguin Books), 7:30 p.m. at Village Books on Swarthmore. Tabloids and fans are stunned when daytime soap opera star Alexis Peterson leaves her show. She’s too busy with her new job as presenter at the Daytime Emmy Awards to even notice, but when her co-presenter is killed, Alex realizes she has another mystery on her hands.
