Theatre Palisades—which is celebrating its 60th anniversary—will host its annual meeting, dinner and awards show on Sunday, August 13, beginning at 6 p.m.
“Come join the celebration of 60 years of Theatre Palisades at the 2023 annual meeting, dinner and awards show,” read an event flyer.
Festivities include cocktails and voting from 6 to 7 p.m., a buffet dinner on Founders Island at 7 p.m., the annual meeting inside Pierson Playhouse at 8 p.m., with the awards show beginning at 8:15 p.m.
The five shows up for awards during the ceremony are “Nunsense: The Musical,” “The Sweet Delilah Swim Club,” “Other Desert Cities,” “Run For Your Wife” and “Bell, Book & Candle.”
The evening will also include musical numbers from Theatre Palisades Youth’s recently closed “Anastasia the Musical: Youth Edition,” as well as one from Theatre Palisades’ upcoming musical “The Andrews Brothers” and next year’s musical, which is “The Rocky Horror Show.”
There will also be previews of short scenes from the 2024 Theatre Palisades season.
“In 1963, Theatre Palisades was founded by three television writers; Ken Rosen, Sheldon Stark and Jacquie Chester,” according to the Theatre Palisades website. “They wanted to produce original plays, starting with their own scripts.”
Prior to the opening of Pierson Playhouse in 1988, performances took place in venues throughout the Palisades, including Pacific Palisades Jewish Community Center (which is now Kehillat Israel) and Rustic Canyon Recreation Center.
“The Andrews Brothers” will open September 1 and run through October 8, followed by Agatha Christie’s “Towards Zero,” running from November 3 to December 10.
Tickets are available here for the August 13 evening for $25.
