The Thread Alliance

My name is Drew Singer and I am a part of a special charity called The Thread Alliance. Our mission is to raise awareness about the prevention of child abuse.

The Thread Alliance has raised money in the past through our restaurant partnerships/donations (shout out to the amazing Taj Palace, the yogurt shoppe, and Kayndaves) and has given the proceeds to an amazing organization called For The Child.

For The Child is based in the South Bay and works with families who have struggled with child abuse. They help these families with many aspects of their lives, including preventing exposure to violence and helping families heal.

During this difficult time, families are going stir crazy because they are spending so much of their time inside. Many are low-income families who need help now more than ever.

For The Child has requested donations in the form of toys, games, and books in order to provide these families with activities to help manage the stress. For The Child provides food bags for these families and they will include a toy, game, or book with every bag, until they run out.

Jake Grossman, Gavan Greenberg, and I have been requesting toys and games over the past few weeks from family and friends. We have accumulated hundreds of toys, books and games so far. I am writing this article to inform our community about this cause.

There is a need right now for gift cards for groceries that they can pair with their food bags. Any amount is appreciated!

They also are requesting school supplies for remote learning including: pens, paper, notebooks, markers and binders…and in the past they had requested backpacks, but with the school year up in the air right now, they are only seeking remote learning items.

They are also in need of any sanitizing items because they clean everything before providing the items to the families. Only new items are acceptable due to the CDC guidelines they are required to follow.
