When the Los Angeles Times held its annual foodie event The Taste at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood earlier this month, about 1,300 attendees walked the famous New York Street set. They cruised past the legendary Studio 14 (where parts of “Saturday Night Fever” and various “Star Trek” movies were shot) to meet superstar chefs such as Roy Choi (Kogi), chill out in the Cool Down Room with a margarita or gelato, and try all varieties of libations, chicken and seafood delicacies and delicious desserts. The fare was offered by such restaurants and eateries as BOA Steakhouse, Border Grill, Dog Haus, Dandy Don’s Ice Cream, Mr. Chow, Ox and Son, The District, Venice Whaler, Umami Burger and Amorino Gelato.

Actress Valerie Bertinelli (“One Day at a Time”), also a cookbook author, appeared at the weekend event’s Sept. 5 opening night. Food world celebrities in attendance included Jessica Koslow (Sqirl), Niki Nakayama (n/naka), Akasha Richmond (Akasha, Sambar), Chef Bruce Kalman (Union), critic Jonathan Gold, Helen Johannesen (Petit Trois/Trois Mec) and Curtis Stone (Maude).
