With spring abound, the Palisadian-Post is introducing two new interns to the newspaper who will assist by providing editorial support through writing stories and editing.
Siena Ferraro

My name is Siena Ferraro, and I am a sophomore at Archer School for Girls. I am 16 years old, and ever since I can remember, I have always loved to write.
This school year, I joined my school’s paper, The Oracle, as a staff reporter. When it comes to covering events in my community, I enjoy local news, as well as highlighting local artists and events pertaining to the arts and entertainment industries.
Outside of journalism, I founded and currently lead the Short Story Social Club at my school. In the club, we spend time analyzing and discussing a myriad of short stories, as well as writing short stories of our own.
Also, I planned and hosted my school’s first-ever used book exchange in February with the goal of equitably and sustainably spreading the joy of literature to my school community. The event provided both students and faculty with a communal space to swap their gently used books. This event brought me great joy seeing the excitement from participants receiving their next read.
In addition to running my club and hosting the used book exchange, I tutor students after school in English and history, which coincides with my belief that the juxtaposition of a passionate heart and an intelligent, logical mind is a valuable and vital asset for any scholar to possess in order to succeed both in the classroom and beyond.
Outside of school, some of my interests include testing new recipes in my kitchen, going skiing with my dad and, most importantly, reading lots of books.
As an intern for the Palisadian-Post, I am looking forward to spotlighting the incredible Palisadians that make up our community, as well as covering local happenings and community events.
Gigi Appelbaum

My name is Gigi Appelbaum and I am beyond excited to be interning for the Palisadian-Post this spring. I am very interested in journalism, and I think that this will be a wonderful opportunity for me to grow my skills as a writer while connecting further to the Pacific Palisades community.
I have lived in the Palisades for my entire life—I went to Marquez Charter Elementary School and I am currently a sophomore at Palisades Charter High School.
My experience growing up in the Palisades has been incredible. It is such a loving and supportive community, and I feel very fortunate that I get to live and go to school here.
At Pali High, I am a staff writer on the school newspaper, Tideline, and I will be a features editor next year. I have loved every minute of my nearly two years writing for Tideline, and I have learned so much about what it means to be a journalist—not only has it given me the skills I need to be a successful journalist, but it has also taught me vital skills surrounding public speaking, confidence in interviews and asking thoughtful questions.
I love writing in all forms, but journalism has given me an opportunity to apply that passion to something that I feel is extremely important, and for that I am very grateful.
I would love to pursue journalism in my future, as I think that it is an enjoyable and interesting way for me to apply my interest in writing to a valuable career.
As an intern at the Post, I look forward to learning about what it means to be a professional journalist, as well as gaining valuable writing and journalistic experience. I am excited to interact with and learn from talented journalists who I am sure will greatly help me in improving my writing and pursuing my interest in journalism.
