Curious about the most expensive home ever sold in Pacific Palisades?
That honor goes to 15070 Corona Del Mar, which sold for $22,000,000 in April 2015, according to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). It is a 9,500 square-foot home on a 37,551 square-foot lot. This is the only home in the Palisades ever to have sold for more than $20 million.
The second most expensive Palisades home ever sold is the residence at 1471 San Remo Dr., which sold for $17,500,000 in June 2013. It was a 13,585 square-foot home on a 30,326 square-foot lot.
Currently, there are four Palisades homes on the market listed at more than $15 million. The most expensive one, located at 1722 San Remo, is going for $26,950,000. It is a brand-new home that is 10,400 square feet on a 37,000 square-foot view lot.
The Palisades has only had six homes ever sell over $15 million. Not surprisingly, almost all of the most expensive Palisades homes sold were in the Riviera or Huntington neighborhoods.
How does that compare to the most expensive homes sold in the neighboring communities of Santa Monica, Brentwood, Bel-Air, Malibu and Beverly Hills?
Santa Monica has only had two homes sell over $15 million, however there are two homes currently on the market listed at prices higher than $15 million.
The most expensive home ever sold in Santa Monica was at 1525 San Vicente. It was a 22,794 square-foot home on a 258,806 square-foot lot.
The most expensive Santa Monica home currently on the market is at 1725 San Vicente. This 7,066 square-foot home on a 46,406 square-foot lot is listed at $22,500,000.
In neighboring Brentwood, only 16 homes have sold over $15 million. The most expensive was 12780 Chalon, which sold for $40 million in May 2014. It was an 18,298 square-foot residence on a 157,927 square-foot lot.
The most expensive Brentwood home currently on the market is at 1911 Westridge. With 10 bedrooms and 19 bathrooms, it is listed at $55 million.
In Bel-Air (which includes Holmby Hills), 37 homes have sold for more than $15 million. The most expensive sold was at 350 N. Carolwood Dr., which went for $88,300,000—a big discount from its original $125 million asking price.
The most expensive Bel-Air home currently on the market is at 788 Tortuoso Way. This 57,957 square-foot home on a 139,244 square-foot lot is listed at a staggering $115 million.
Just north of the Palisades in neighboring Malibu, only 51 homes have sold for more than $15 million.
The most expensive sale was a home at 22314 Pacific Coast Highway, which sold for $36,943,890 in September 2012. This 10,317 square-foot residence was situated on a 31,785 square-foot lot.
The most expensive Malibu home currently on the market is listed at $75 million. This 15,000 square-foot home lies on a 148,266 square-foot lot at 23800 Malibu Crest Dr.
Fifty-four homes in Beverly Hills have sold for over $15 million—nine times more than the number sold in the Palisades.
The most expensive Beverly Hills home sold was at 1181 N. Hillcrest in December 2014. For $70 million, the buyer landed a 22,300 square-foot home on a 41,608 square-foot lot.
The most expensive home currently on the market in Beverly Hills is located at 1187 N. Hillcrest Rd. With a list price of $135 million, it offers 18,000 square feet on a 91,039 square-foot lot.
The reason areas like Bel-Air, Malibu and Beverly Hills have so many more homes selling over $15 million is because the lots tend to be a lot bigger than those in the Palisades.
Note: All the data was pulled from the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). There have been some homes that were sold off market (not reported in the MLS) that may not be included in the data above.
