I guess that in the Braun family, children come in triples. Rustic Canyon residents Ray and Betsy Braun’s own children, triplets, each produced a grandchild in the last 10 months and an immediate table for eight. Ray and Betsy moved to Greentree Road one month after their triplets were born, 35 years ago. They have been married for 42 years. The Braun kids, Jessie, Ben and Lucas, enjoyed a Palisades childhood and then moved onto college, marriage, careers and now children of their own. Jessie (Pomona) and Michael Rycroft live in San Francisco, having moved there from London 2-1/2 years ago. Jessie is a director of merchandising with the clothing company Charlotte Russe, and Michael is in residential real estate. Ben (Duke) and Heather Braun moved back to Los Angeles from New York City last April. Ben is a VP in the Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley, and Heather is an executive director with Parabellum Capital. Lucas (Dartmouth) and Kate Braun live in Austin, Texas. Lucas is CEO of OnRamp, an electronic data storage company that he and his partner acquired after raising the capital. Kate is finishing up her position with the nonprofit Livestrong, and soon will happily become a stay-at-home mom. Two years ago, Ray left his firm, Economics Research Associates, of 40 years and with two partners opened a new company, Entertainment + Culture Advisors, wherein they do economic feasibility studies for recreation development. Betsy, author of two bestselling books (“Just Tell Me What to Say” and “You’re Not the Boss of Me”), conducts parenting groups, speaks all over the country, and individual clients through the business she founded in 2001, Parenting Pathways, Inc. It’s clear the grandchildren have brought her great joy. “I love babies…and these in particular,” she says, adding “but it’s kind of tricky for me, being in the parenting/child development and behavior field and being considered an expert. My clients all say how lucky my kids are to have me. I want to make sure they feel that way, so I am trying my best to keep my yap closed!” “We have already created a whole new picture wall in the house just for grandkids,” Betsy says. “And I do have photo files and scrapbooks for each baby…of course” (just as she made for her own children).
