The annual Pacific Palisades Teen Contest, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 7 p.m. in Pierson Playhouse at Theatre Palisades.
The contest is open to young men and women who are between the ages of 14 and 18, in high school, single and a resident of Pacific Palisades.
Only young women were part of the contest when it began in 1959. Gentlemen became part of the competition in 1990 when Gabe Saglie won Mr. Palisades. Saglie is now part of the KTLA Channel 5 team.
Contestants will demonstrate their talent, poise and communication skills as they vie for the title of Miss Palisades or Mr. Palisades.
The generous Cathie Wishnick Scholarship Fund will be divided equally between the two chosen representatives. The scholarship is named after Wishnick, who served for many years as the contest’s mistress of ceremonies. In addition, the two runners-up will receive awards. A maximum of 12 contestants may participate.
Choreographer Thea White will provide another lively show. The reigning 2013 youths are dancer Hannah Wasserman and singer/pianist Greg Lehrhoff. Dr. Andy Frey will return as program chairman. Other committee members include Miss Palisades 1991 Emily Kay, Mr. Palisades 1993 Ramis Sadrieh, Marge Gold, Chana Messer, Candida Piaggi, Carol Smolinisky and Arnie Wishnick.
Entry forms can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office, 15330 Antioch, or call (310) 459-7963 to have it mailed.
